The Ruby-throated Hummingbird is the most common type of hummingbird in the Eastern United States. Ruby-throated Hummingbirds are commonly curious creatures and enjoy the likes of bird feeders where activity is in abundance. They're lifespan is typically three to five years and they can fly at up to 50 miles per hour. Ruby-throated Hummingbirds have a hovering presence as their wings beat an average of 50 beats per minute. Famously named for the red throat that the male displays, these birds are common in the east from Canada to Mexico.
